As a Lakeside resident since 1972 I will provide representation on the Lakeside Community Planning Group as one who has both witnessed and experienced the trends and consequences of planning efforts.
As a member of the planning group my goals will be to: preserve trails, make more accessible parks, plan for a park along the river, and provide more youth sports areas. My impartial and independent views will allow me to maintain these goals when zoning decisions are made and while making recommendations for future plans like the General Plan 2020.
Like many of us I have watched the systematic transition of Lakeside from a rural horse town into a wall-to-wall suburbia. My wake-up-call came when one of Lakeside's last remaining river trails was to be lost to out-of-town developers.
I was inspired further as my wife and our boys struggled to practice their athletics on over-used and over-crowded fields, some now accessed only by walking curbside along busy streets.
As part of the Lakeside Community Planning Group I will work with the county to avoid increased density, the strip malls and grid-lock traffic conditions. I will also go out of my way to keep you informed when pending changes are not consistent with our rural heritage.
